In July 2022, the Mega Millions jackpot was $1.337 billion. The lucky winners were two people who bought a single ticket each, but they decided to keep their identities under wraps. Instead, they opted for a lump-sum payment of $780.5 million, which is still a massive amount of money.

Mega Millions — $1.05 Billion

In January 2021, four Michigan residents split the Mega Millions jackpot of $1.05 billion. According to their representative, Kurt Penhaus, one of the winners was reminded to buy their tickets when they saw a sign that the jackpot had climbed to $1 billion. After taxes were paid, the lucky winners received a lump sum of around $557 million.
