Cyber police in East Bangalore, India, have filed an initial information report* against betting operator 1xBet. According to The Hindu, the case stems from a complaint by media giant Star India.

1xBet is accused of illegally streaming the ICC Champions Trophy cricket tournament to its users without proper broadcasting rights. Star India, which holds the exclusive media rights to the event, reported the violation to authorities.

“Any broadcast of the tournament without official permission is a direct infringement of Star India’s copyright,” the company stated in its complaint.

The police report also mentions the possibility of arresting individuals linked to 1xBet’s operations in the country.

In India, where sports betting remains illegal in most states, 1xBet operates without a license. The country’s Ministry of Home Affairs previously announced a ban on the bookmaker’s mobile app. However, the website remains accessible, and 1xBet continues to promote its brand aggressively on social media. Last year, 1xBet also signed Indian actress and model Urvashi Rautela as a brand ambassador.
