Sportradar Integrity Services, a division of Sportradar, and the International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics) have announced a partnership to monitor the integrity of over 450 international water polo matches.

The two-year agreement will cover the Men’s and Women’s Water Polo Tournaments, the Men’s and Women’s U20 Championships, and the Men’s and Women’s Water Polo World Cups. These competitions will be monitored by Sportradar’s Universal Fraud Detection System (UFDS), which has helped uncover over 8,000 suspicious matches in other sports over the past 18 years.

Andreas Krannich, Managing Director of Sportradar Integrity Services, highlighted that match-fixing has been creeping into a wider range of sports in recent times.

«Aquatic sports are not immune to such integrity threats, and we are committed to providing the strongest integrity provisions using our technology to protect World Aquatics water polo competitions over the next two years», Krannich added.

World Aquatics is the governing body for all aquatics, including swimming, diving, artistic swimming, water polo, and open water swimming. It represents the majority of national swimming federations and sets the development direction for a range of aquatic sports.

Earlier this year, Sportradar released data on the number of suspicious matches detected in 2022.
