Fair Betting Survey 2024

FairPlay Sports Media (FPSM), the global sports media network, has unveiled the findings of its inaugural Fair Betting Survey 2024, which sought to identify the most trusted sportsbooks among bettors in the UK and US. European Gaming reports that the survey polled clients of sportsbooks from both regions.

The survey, which ran from January 5 to February 6, 2024, canvassed the opinions of roughly 500 clients of sports betting operators. The central aim was to discern the role that fairness plays in a bettor’s selection of a bookmaker. When asked, “Of the sportsbooks you have accounts with, who is the fairest?” the responses indicated:

  • UK Bettors: Bet365 tops with 40%, followed by SkyBet (16%) and Paddy Power (12%).
  • US Bettors: DraftKings leads with 37%, with FanDuel close behind at 33%.

The survey also shed light on the differing criteria for fairness between the two nations. UK players prioritize “Best odds”, while US bettors place “Easy withdrawals” at the top, with both groups agreeing on the importance of an “Easy to use site/app” as a close third.

The concept of fairness isn’t just theoretical; it’s a pivotal factor in the decision-making process for punters, with 87% of British and 78% of American respondents deeming it “Very Important”.

Interestingly, the incidence of perceived unfairness varies significantly between the two countries. Only 16% of Americans reported unfair treatment by bookmakers, in stark contrast to 54% of British bettors.
