The Mega Millions lottery jackpot has reached an astounding $1.15 billion, or $516.1 million in cash, according to Daily News. Tickets for the drawing are sold across 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Each ticket costs $2.
Lottery officials estimate the odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot for this round at 1 in 302,575,350.
“We know that many people will likely receive tickets to Friday’s drawing as holiday gifts, and what a gift that would turn out to be if you ended up with a ticket worth a $1.15bn jackpot,” said Joshua Johnston, lead director of the Mega Millions Consortium.
This staggering jackpot now ranks as the fifth largest in U.S. lottery history.
