OpenAI has updated its usage policy, restricting ChatGPT from responding to user queries on several sensitive topics — including gambling.
Under the new rules, which took effect on October 29, 2025, ChatGPT is no longer allowed to offer advice or guidance related to real-money gambling. The system will not provide information about depositing funds, choosing casinos, or developing betting strategies.
ChatGPT is also prohibited from giving tips on sports betting, bypassing restrictions, falsifying data, or manipulating bookmaker systems. According to OpenAI, these measures were introduced for legal and financial safety reasons.
However, the chatbot will still be able to answer educational or informational questions — for example, explaining gambling terminology, describing how odds are calculated, or outlining the history of betting.
The same update also restricts ChatGPT from giving certain types of advice in other areas, including law, medicine, education, housing, employment, finance, lending, insurance, and “essential public services.”
Earlier, Gambling Park reported on a study that found signs of gambling-like behavior in artificial intelligence systems.
