Ivan Toney, Brentford

Brentford forward Ivan Toney, who also plays for the national team, has been hit with an eight-month ban and a fine for breaking betting rules, the Football Association of England (FA) announced.

Toney faced 262 charges of flouting betting rules for athletes. He confessed to 232 violations, and the FA let go of the other 30 charges.

The footballer will have to pay a £50,000 fine (over $62,000) for his gambling offenses.

The Brentford striker will be out of action until September 17, 2023. After that, he can get back to training with his club.

The FA said it will explain its decision in writing soon. Until then, Brentford will refrain from making any comments on its player’s fate until it sees the official document.
