In a landmark move, the Dutch gambling watchdog, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), has dealt a record-breaking fine of €19.7 million ($21.3 million) to Gammix Limited, a Malta-based online casino operator. This fine sets a new precedent, eclipsing the previous record by more than 150%.

The KSA’s crackdown comes after Gammix Limited’s repeated infractions.

Despite prior penalties and warnings, the company continued to flout Dutch gambling laws by offering unlicensed services to Dutch players and inadequately shielding minors from gambling activities.

The fine’s hefty tag reflects the illicit profits raked in by Gammix Limited from its Dutch clientele, compounded by serious breaches like underage gambling and promoting reckless betting behavior.

With a portfolio of 21 online casinos, Gammix Limited is no small fish in the gambling pond. The KSA’s verdict was reached in December, but only came to light on February 29. The online casino has already appealed the regulator’s verdict.
