Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene has ordered the formation of a task force to investigate the illegal operations of betting giant 1xBet and take action against its unlicensed activities. Local reports indicate that the task force will include officials from various government agencies.

The decision comes amid a surge in online gambling across Mongolia, which the government sees as a national security threat. Authorities warn that sports betting addiction is breaking up families, yet the number of bettors keeps growing. Officials believe 1xBet plays a key role in fueling the country’s gambling boom.

A criminal network has formed around the bookmaker, with numerous “agents” taking bets from local residents. The National Police Agency is already investigating more than 100 individuals allegedly facilitating illegal wagering.

Government estimates suggest that 1xBet generates up to $500 million per year in Mongolia without a local gaming license. The operator has been active in the country since 2015, running gambling services outside legal regulations.
