The Michigan Supreme Court has ruled in favor of a gambler who had previously been denied a payout of over $3 million by BetMGM.
According to Gambling News, the plaintiff in this case is Jacqueline Davis, who claims she won $3.2 million playing “Luck O’ The Roulette” over a span of six days back in 2021.
Subsequently, BetMGM refused to pay out her winnings and blocked her account, citing a technical glitch in the game as justification.
Notably, before her account was suspended, Davis had managed to withdraw $100,000, while the remaining amount became inaccessible.
The matter inevitably went to court, but both the trial court and the Michigan Court of Appeals ruled against the plaintiff. BetMGM representatives argued—and both courts initially agreed—that disputes with customers should be resolved by the Michigan Gaming Control Board.
Although further appeals seemed unlikely, the Michigan Supreme Court unexpectedly sided with Davis, expressing doubts about BetMGM’s claim of a technical malfunction. While this does not guarantee an immediate payout, the case will now be reconsidered in the trial court, marking a significant victory for the player.
