Netflix is developing a documentary project centered on UFC president Dana White and his long-standing passion for gambling. The news was reported by several U.S. outlets, including The Big Lead and The Hollywood Reporter, which note that the streaming service is working on an unscripted film exploring White’s extensive history with high-stakes betting.
According to the reports, Netflix was drawn to White’s reputation as one of Las Vegas’ most prominent gamblers. For years, he has placed major bets in casinos, winning and losing sums that frequently become a topic of discussion within the industry.
Gambling Park notes that White’s debts to Red Rock Casino may reach as high as $25 million.
The project is in its early development stage, and Netflix has not yet issued any public comments. Neither the format, nor the release date, nor the creative team behind the film have been disclosed. White has openly acknowledged having serious problems with gambling, while his friend and business partner Joe Rogan has described him as a “degenerate gambler.”
The news sparked substantial reaction on social media and in industry outlets. With the FBI currently investigating alleged fight-fixing schemes in the UFC, the timing of the documentary has become a major point of debate. Several commentators note that the project appears “highly ill-timed” and argue that investigators may want to examine whether White himself is connected to any of the activities now under scrutiny.
