A non-profit group, Cleveland Missing, which helps families of missing people, has made a deck of playing cards with photos of missing people, Fox News reports.
The group’s spokesperson said they picked 52 unsolved cases of missing people in Ohio, from 2000 to 2019.
The cards have photos of the missing people, and details about when and where they disappeared.
Why Give the Cards to Prisoners?
The idea is to distribute the cards to inmates in Ohio prisons, who might have some inside information or recognize someone from the cards. The group hopes that the prisoners will spill the beans while playing and chatting with each other.
Maybe one of them will recognize someone on a card and want to cut a deal with the authorities. This could help solve a case and maybe even get them a shorter sentence.
According to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, there are over 900 missing children in the Cleveland-Akron area alone.
If this experiment works out, it could be a game-changer for solving cold cases, not just in Ohio, but across the country.
