MGM Resorts International is facing another legal battle in the wake of a major hacking incident that occurred last September, as reported by Gambling News.

During the cyberattack, personal data belonging to MGM Resorts’ customers was compromised, including sensitive information such as names, birthdates, and driver’s license numbers. The financial toll resulting from this breach was estimated at $100 million.

THE702FIRM Injury Attorneys have now filed the latest class action lawsuit, representing an undisclosed number of individuals who were members of MGM Resorts’ loyalty program.

The lawsuit alleges that casino patrons and hotel guests have been forced to take additional security measures to safeguard against potential identity theft, including investing in lifelong subscriptions for specialized protective software. Moreover, the victims have endured emotional distress as a consequence of the breach.

The class action lawsuit seeks compensation for the emotional distress suffered by the victims, reimbursement for all related expenses, including attorney fees and software purchases aimed at preventing identity theft. The exact amount being sought in damages remains undisclosed at this time.
