Australia’s gambling industry is expected to hit 20 billion Australian dollars ($13.2 billion) by 2027, according to a forecast by research group IBIS World.
But that’s a lowball estimate, according to some experts, who think that the government might crack down on gambling laws. Last year, the Australian government banned credit cards for gambling and made it harder for operators to advertise.
Australians love to gamble more than anyone else. The stats show that the average Aussie gambler spends about $1,000 a year. That’s way more than the Irish ($713), the Americans ($261), and the Brits ($169).
In the fiscal year from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023, about 73% of Australian adults wagered money on various forms of betting, and 2 out of 5 did it every week.
