Prayer Pays Off: Buddhist Monk Wins Lottery After Praying to Buddha

A Buddhist monk hit the jackpot in Thailand’s national lottery, The Thaiger reported. He won 6,000,000 baht ($176,000).

Phra Ajahn Praphas, 63, said he prayed to Buddha for money to fix an old temple that was falling apart.

His prayer was answered: a temple worker bought a lottery ticket from a vendor who visited the temple on a motorbike and picked the number 132903 without much thought.

The winner attributed his jackpot to his good karma as a temple servant. Phra humbly shared that he leads a simple and solitary life, sweeping the floor and caring for stray animals. He also never bothers anyone or causes any trouble, he remarked.
