Following a string of gambling controversies, the National Basketball Association (NBA) is working with major sportsbooks to review its betting policy in an effort to identify and limit markets most vulnerable to manipulation.

According to ESPN sources, the league had already flagged certain player-prop bets — including missed free throws, fouls, and turnovers — as high-risk before the start of the season and asked operators to remove them from their markets. Leading sportsbooks FanDuel and DraftKings have reportedly complied.

Discussions are now focused on introducing limits on other individual-statistic markets, such as betting on a player’s minutes played.

“Wagering on individual player outcomes raises heightened integrity concerns and requires additional monitoring,” an NBA spokesperson told ESPN.

As previously reported by Gambling Park, the debate follows one of the most high-profile illegal gambling scandals in recent NBA history.
