Betting operators should pay close attention to tennis markets in 2025. According to Gambling Insider, gaming giant Entain highlights this trend in its latest report, Happy Slam.
Entain attributes this to a growing interest in tennis betting.
Currently, tennis ranks fifth in overall betting popularity across Entain’s major brands operating in the U.K., U.S., Spain, and Brazil.
Grand Slam tournaments play a crucial role in driving betting volume, with the Australian Open leading the way. Despite time zone differences, the event generates significant handle.
The U.S. Open and French Open also rank among the most bet-on events. The French Open even surpasses Wimbledon in betting volume, largely due to the nature of clay-court matches. Since clay-court games (French Open) last longer than those on grass (Wimbledon), bettors have more opportunities to place wagers during play.
Entain’s report also emphasizes the importance of live betting.
90% of all tennis bets across Entain-owned platforms are placed in-play rather than pre-match.
In both the U.K. and U.S., tennis ranks second in live betting volume — trailing only football in the U.K. and basketball in the U.S.
Entain’s data further shows that 60% of all tennis wagers are placed on men’s matches, as men’s Grand Slam events feature best-of-five sets compared to the best-of-three format in women’s tournaments.
However, the retirements of stars like Roger Federer and Andy Murray, combined with the rise of top female players such as Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Świątek, could fuel increased betting interest in the women’s game.
