Accumulator Bet — First Meaning
Accumulator or Acca is a type of bet that lets you combine 2 or more single bets (legs) into one mega bet. The more legs you add, the bigger the payout (by multiplying the odds of each leg) — but also the higher the risk.
But there’s a catch: you must get all the bets right to win. If you miss one, you lose everything.

The accumulators bets are also known as combos or multis. In the US, this type of bet is usually called a parlay.
Accumulator Bet — Another Meaning
In Europe, and especially in England, an accumulator/acca is more often used to describe a bet with 4+ picks.

The number of folds tells you how many picks are in the bet. For example, a 5-fold acca is a wager with 5 picks, and so on.
Types of Acca in Sports Betting
Bets that contain two or three selections are known as a double or treble, respectively.
Types of Acca | How Many Bets? |
Double | 2 |
Treble | 3 |
Four-fold acca | 4 |
Five-fold acca | 5 |
Six-fold acca | 6 |
Seven-fold acca | 7 |
Eight-fold acca | 8 |
Note: Acca leg limit varies by bookie. For instance, Paddy Power caps accumulators at 25.
Building Your Accumulator Bet
- Pick a sport and a market: add selections to your bet slip one by one on any sport and any market (match result, over/under, both teams to score, etc.). But not from the same event.
- Choose the option that reads “accumulator” or “acca”: At the bottom (at some bookies at the top) of the bet slip, you will be given a list of multiple wagers that you can place.
- Bet and wait: Place your acca bet and wait for the results. You need all the bets to be correct to win. If any of them is wrong, you lose everything.
How to Calculate Your Payout in Acca Bet
To calculate your acca bet winnings, you need to know the odds and the stake of your acca bet, and the results of each leg. Here’s an example of how to do it:
Leg | Outcome | Odds | Result |
1 | Team A wins | 2.00 | Win |
2 | Team B wins | 1.50 | Win |
3 | Team C wins | 1.80 | Lose |
4 | Team D wins | 2.50 | Win |
- Stake: €10
- Odds: 2.00 x 1.50 x 1.80 x 2.50 = 13.50
- Potential payout: 13.50 x 10 = €135
Since one of the legs is wrong, you lose your acca bet and the payout is zero. But if all the legs were correct, you would win €135 from a €10 bet!
