FBI Agents Training with UFC Fighters
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) plans to enlist the help of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to train its special agents in combat techniques. The plans were outlined in documents posted to SAM.gov, the US government’s official procurement website, on 30 September.
The FBI intends to award the UFC a one-year training contract.
According to the documents, the training programme will cover:
- Striking techniques;
- Wrestling and takedowns;
- Defence against weapons;
- Ground control and restraint techniques;
- Physical conditioning for hand-to-hand combat.
The training is designed to help FBI agents respond more effectively to dangerous situations.
The agency plans to award the contract on a sole-source basis, without a competitive bidding process. The FBI justified this decision by citing the UFC’s experience and its ability to provide training across all the required disciplines.
According to the agency’s assessment, no other organisation meets all the programme’s requirements.
The value of the proposed contract has not been disclosed. During the one-year contract period, the FBI plans to launch an open competition to select a training provider for a longer-term agreement.

The UFC has worked with the FBI before. On 14–15 March 2026, several prominent UFC fighters, including Justin Gaethje, Jorge Masvidal and former UFC champion Chris Weidman, conducted a two-day training seminar for FBI personnel at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
