The American Gaming Association (AGA) and research firm Eilers & Krejcik Gaming (EKG) have looked at how much Americans will bet on the biggest sports event of the year — Super Bowl LVIII, happening on February 11.
The experts predict that US bettors will bet a whopping $23.1 billion on Super Bowl 2024, with $1.25 billion going through legal sportsbooks. That’s a new record, and a 35% jump from last year.
They also say that more Americans will bet than ever before, with almost 68 million adults joining in, which is 26% more than in 2023.

Nevada and New York Top the Chart
Nevada (where the Super Bowl is) and New York are expected to make the most money, with 12.8% and 12.4% of the total revenue, respectively. Other states will make much less.
That makes sense, according to EKG experts. Nevada is not only the host of the Super Bowl, but also the heart of the U.S. gambling industry, with Las Vegas. And New York has the biggest betting market in the U.S. and a lot of people.
The EKG experts say that the Super Bowl is important for operators, but their main goal is to get new customers and keep the old ones.
Live Betting to Make Up Only 10–15%
Another interesting thing in the study is that live betting during the NFL’s final game will only be 10–15% of the total bets. That’s different from other Super Bowl bets, where live betting is usually much higher, around 44% for FanDuel.
Don’t forget, the Super Bowl is on February 11 between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs. The bookies don’t have a clear favorite for the game.
