A potential match-fixing scandal is unfolding in Spain’s La Liga. As reported by Football Espana, Rayo Vallecano’s management has raised concerns over a particular match.
The match under scrutiny was held on May 15 during the 36th round of La Liga, where Sevilla faced off against Cádiz. Cadiz secured a victory with a goal scored in the 90+6 minute, bolstering their prospects of remaining in Spain’s top football division.
However, Rayo Vallecano, currently 16th in the league standings, suspects that Cádiz’s win may not have been entirely fair. Their report indicates that initial signs of a potentially rigged match emerged 48 hours prior to the game.
Speculation is rife that Sevilla might have allowed Cádiz to win due to the geographical closeness of the two cities, suggesting a possible act of regional camaraderie.
