Who to Back in Fury vs Joshua

After reviewing the odds and both fighters’ recent form, Gambling Park’s early pick is Tyson Fury to win at 1.56. This bet covers a Fury victory by stoppage or on points.

Fighter Statistics

Fury has had more professional fights and suffered fewer defeats. Joshua has more wins by knockout or technical knockout, with 27 compared with Fury’s 25.

Professional records as of 26 October 2026.

Fury’s Last Five Fights

Fury has won two fights in a row since his back-to-back defeats to Usyk. His bout with Makhmudov went the full 12 rounds, while Wach retired after the seventh. The quality of the opposition matters when assessing Fury’s three wins in his last five outings: both defeats came against Usyk.

Joshua’s Last Five Fights

Joshua also heads into the fight on a two-fight winning streak. All five of his most recent bouts ended inside the distance, with none going beyond the sixth round. Both men last fought in July, so there is little difference in the length of their respective layoffs.

Why Gambling Park Is Backing Fury

  • Tactical versatility. Fury’s jab, ability to vary the distance and use of the clinch give him several ways to disrupt Joshua’s attacks. In our view, his best approach is to control the pace and prevent Joshua from putting together damaging combinations. His ability to adjust his tactics during a fight is the main reason we favour him.
  • Joshua’s defensive vulnerabilities. Joshua was knocked down twice in the opening round against Prenga in July. He recovered to win in the second, but that shaky start highlighted how vulnerable he can be when caught cleanly.

The biggest threat to our pick is Joshua’s punching power. He has earned 27 of his 30 wins inside the distance, so even a fight that Fury is controlling could turn in Joshua’s favour.

At the same time, Fury’s recent victories over Makhmudov and Wach do not, on their own, prove he is ready for an opponent of Joshua’s calibre. The statistics support our assessment, but they are not enough to make Fury a clear-cut favourite.

Gambling Park’s main pick: Tyson Fury to win at 1.56. We are backing Fury to win by any method, so the bet pays out whether he wins by stoppage or on points. A draw or a Joshua victory would mean a losing bet.

How Often Do Favourites Win Heavyweight Title Fights?

Gambling Park compared pre-fight odds with the results of 12 fights for major heavyweight world titles involving Fury, Joshua and Usyk between 2020 and 2025. For each bout, we defined the favourite as the boxer with the shorter odds in CBS Sports’ pre-fight coverage. Each fight was counted once.

By our count, favourites won eight of the 12 fights.

Fury won as the favourite in his third fight with Wilder and against Whyte and Chisora, as did Joshua against Pulev. Usyk accounted for the other four wins by favourites: his rematches with Joshua and Fury, and both fights against Dubois.

There were four underdog wins based on those pre-fight odds:

  • Fury vs Wilder, February 2020. Wilder was the favourite, but Fury won by technical knockout.
  • Usyk vs Joshua, September 2021. Usyk won by unanimous decision.
  • Usyk vs Fury, May 2024. Fury was a slight favourite in the odds used for this analysis, but Usyk won by split decision.
  • Dubois vs Joshua, September 2024. Joshua was a clear favourite, but Dubois knocked him out in the fifth round.

Favourites won two out of every three fights in this sample.

However, this is a small sample of title fights, and some favourites were much more strongly fancied than others.

The 66.7% figure should not be treated as Fury’s probability of beating Joshua or as a measure of bookmakers’ overall accuracy.

Assessing a bet means considering both the chance of winning and the odds on offer. Backing favourites that win regularly does not guarantee a profit: a few losses can wipe out the profits from several winning bets at short odds.

Our Final Betting Tip

Before betting on Fury vs Joshua, compare the odds and bonus offers across bookmakers. A better price can make a difference to your potential return.
