Employees at the Latvian branch of gambling company Evolution have reported a severe bedbug infestation in their office, according to LSM+.
An employee told journalists that over recent weeks staff have increasingly noticed insects in various parts of the office, including cabinets, changing rooms, sofas, and even the gaming area where most of the operations take place. In some instances, bedbugs were seen crawling directly on casino dealers during live broadcasts.
Workers at Evolution Latvia claim that company management has ignored their complaints and even intimidated employees who actively raised the issue.
The Latvian Health Inspectorate has confirmed receiving a notification from the Labor Inspectorate regarding the problem and plans to conduct its own investigation.
However, Evolution Latvia itself claims the problem has been exaggerated and insists the situation is under control.
“We closely monitor hygiene standards. Currently, there is no evidence of bedbugs spreading beyond certain specific areas. Nevertheless, as a precautionary measure, we have carried out comprehensive disinfection of the entire building,” said company representative Elina Butane.
Gambling Park notes that Evolution faced similar employee complaints previously at its Georgian branch, though bedbugs were not involved. There, workers raised serious concerns over unsafe working conditions and low wages, leading to protests and even a hunger strike.
