A petition on the UK Parliament’s website is calling for the government to scrap the planned affordability checks on gamblers in the country.

The plan is to make gambling companies ask their customers for bank statements to prove that they are not addicted to gambling.

According to preliminary reports, gambling companies in the UK may have to request bank statements from customers who bet more than £125 a month or £500 a year.

But a lot of gamblers are not happy with this idea. That’s why they started the petition, which has already gathered almost 40,000 signatures.

The government has to respond to any petition that gets more than 10,000 signatures. And this one has easily passed that mark. If the petition gets 100,000 signatures, it could even be debated in Parliament. And it looks like it’s on track to reach that goal soon.
