The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) is taking legal action against 33 offshore gaming companies that owe 2.02 billion Philippine pesos ($35.9 million) in licensing fees.

PAGCOR said that these firms have been dodging their fees for over a year, and have ignored the regulator’s official requests.

These companies were licensed by the previous PAGCOR administration to operate gambling activities in the Philippines. However, the regulator has already revoked the licenses of 5 of the 33 firms, and is determined to recover the full $35.9 million debt through the courts.

The chairman of the regulator, Alejandro Tengco, said that PAGCOR has no other option but to take legal action against the violators, who are taking advantage of the Philippine gaming industry.
