A new report by the Commissioner on Narcotic Drug Burkhard Blienert says that about 1.3 million adults in Germany are addicted to gambling, Casino Nieuws reports.

Another 3.3 million gamers in Germany are at risk of becoming compulsive gamblers. This group includes players who have withdrawal symptoms or an urge to play again after losing.

In total, about 4.6 million adults in Germany are abusing gambling in some way. That’s a huge number, considering that Germany has 83.2 million people. That means about 5.5% of the population has some gambling problems.

The government is aware of the issue and is looking for ways to deal with it. For example, Burkhard Blienert said that gambling ads on TV and at football stadiums are harmful because people can’t avoid them.

But this doesn’t mean that gambling ads will be banned completely in Germany. There are still discussions about limiting them.

Gambling addiction is not only a problem in Germany. Earlier, it was reported that one out of every hundred people in Sweden is on the self-exclusion list from gambling.
