Bet365 Founders Land in Top 16 of UK’s Richest

The Coates family – Denise, John, and Peter – who run the online betting company Bet365, have made it to The Sunday Times’ list of the UK’s richest people again.

The list ranks the 350 biggest money-makers in the country. In 2023, the founders of Bet365 secured the 16th spot on the list with a net worth of £8.8 billion ($10.96 billion). They added £158 million ($197 million) to their fortune over the last year.

They are the only ones from the gambling industry to make it to the top 20 of the list.

Denise Coates is also one of the highest-paid bosses in the UK for several years. Her father, Peter Coates, is a co-founder of Bet365 and chairman of Stoke City F.C. Her brother, John Coates, also has a stake in the family business.

Some other gambling bigwigs on the list are:

• Mark Scheinberg (PokerStars) – 45th with £4.33 billion ($5.38 billion);
• Fred and Peter Done (Betfred) – 93rd with £1.87 billion ($2.32 billion);
• Ruth Parasol and family (PartyGaming) – 221st with £780 million ($969 million);
• Michael Tabor (BetVictor) – 260th with £615 million ($764 million);
• Will Roseff (Bet365 shareholder) – 282nd with £506 million ($629 million);
• Tony Bloom (gambling websites owner) – 286th with £500 million ($621 million).
