The funeral of 83-year-old British man Bill Blair was held with great attention to his hobbies. According to Wales Online, one of the stops during the funeral procession was at a William Hill bookmaker’s shop in Chesterfield.
Blair was a daily sports bettor who favored horse racing. Taking this into consideration, Drew Lilleker, the owner of the funeral home Harold Lilleker & Sons Ltd, decided to give the ceremony a personal touch and pay tribute to the deceased’s love of betting.
Lilleker personally went into William Hill and placed a bet on a horse named Bill Baxter for £2 (approximately $2.41). The betting slip, confirming the wager, was attached to one of the funeral wreaths.
Employees of Harold Lilleker & Sons Ltd also placed a set of dominoes on top of Blair’s coffin, as he was devoted not only to betting but also to this game.
Blair’s relatives noted that he had been betting his whole life and was devoted to horse racing in particular.
Blair had both small and big wins, with some reaching as much as £15,000 ($18,000).
