Barstool Sports, a sportsbook, has started working with DraftKings, one of the biggest bookmakers in the U.S.
This is a marketing deal where Barstool will promote the partner’s betting odds, and get a cut from getting new customers.
Barstool couldn’t work with other bookmakers until the end of the NFL season, because of a deal they made with Penn Entertainment last year.
Right after the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl, Barstool’s boss, Dave Portnoy, posted the news on his social media.
“We’re back to our roots. [DraftKings] is once again the exclusive betting partner of Barstool Sports”, Portnoy posted.
Penn Entertainment bought Barstool Sports for $588 million in 2020, and then sold it back to Portnoy for just $1. Barstool used its platform to start a new bookmaking brand, ESPN Bet, last fall.
