CEO of Betano Owner Kaizen Gaming Seeks Stake in Bristol City

Greek businessman George Daskalakis, co-founder and CEO of international gambling company Kaizen Gaming, is in talks to acquire a significant stake in English football club Bristol City, Sky News reports.

The club competes in the Championship, the second tier of English football. Daskalakis is looking to invest in Bristol City alongside financier Sandford Loudon.

Talks with Bristol City owner Steve Lansdown are at an advanced stage, with the parties discussing the acquisition of a minority stake.

It remains unclear whether the investors would have the option to increase their holding to a controlling stake at a later stage.

Kaizen Gaming’s flagship brand, Betano, already has partnerships with Premier League clubs. Its logo appeared on the front of Aston Villa’s shirts during the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons. Betano continued its partnership with the club from the 2026/27 season, moving its branding to the shirt sleeve. The same season, Betano also became Tottenham Hotspur’s training wear partner.

Bristol City have never played in the modern Premier League, which was established in 1992, although the club previously competed in England’s top flight. Their best league finish was second place in the 1906/07 season. Bristol City last played in the top division between 1976 and 1980 and have not returned since.

Lansdown has been involved with the club for nearly 30 years and has invested around £280 million in Bristol City, according to Sky News.

Outside England, Betano was a sponsor of UEFA Euro 2024 and an official partner of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Europe and South America. In 2022, it became the first betting brand to enter into a partnership with FIFA.

Betano has also signed agreements with Bayern Munich, Benfica, River Plate and Sparta Prague. The brand operates in 20 countries and has around 13 million customers.

Representatives for Bristol City and Daskalakis declined to comment.
