Manchester United are in talks with bookmaker Betway over a training kit sponsorship deal that could be worth about £18 million a year (€21 million), according to British media reports.
The deal would cover training wear rather than matchday shirts. The branding would appear on kit worn by players during training sessions at the club’s Carrington base, as well as in official club photos and videos. As a result, the agreement would fall outside the Premier League’s new rules.
From the 2026/27 season, the Premier League will restrict betting logos on the front of matchday shirts. Premier League clubs have agreed to remove gambling branding from that area. However, the rule does not apply to training kit, sleeves, advertising boards or other commercial assets.
Manchester United would therefore be able to display a betting company’s logo on highly visible training wear without breaching the new rules. That would give the brand visibility in official training footage, photography and other club media.
The length of the proposed contract has not been disclosed. Reports describe the proposed deal as a multi-year agreement. United’s previous training kit sponsor was blockchain platform Tezos, whose deal expired in June 2025. The club have since been without a dedicated training wear partner.
Betway has previously been active in English football. The company was West Ham United’s front-of-shirt sponsor and also has gambling partnerships with Manchester City, Arsenal and Brighton & Hove Albion.
