Wynn Resorts, a leading casino operator, is eager to secure a gambling license in Ras Al Khaimah, one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates (UAE), BNN Bloomberg reports.
The company is already building a casino and entertainment complex on Al Marjan Island, a man-made archipelago in Ras Al Khaimah.
But there’s a catch: gambling is not legal in the UAE. Wynn Resorts doesn’t have a license to operate a casino there.
Craig Billings, the CEO of Wynn Resorts, says he’s not worried about that. He says he’s confident that they will get the license soon.
The casino project, called Wynn Al Marjan Island, will cost about $4 billion. It’s expected to open in 2027, if Wynn Resorts gets the green light.
The resort will feature a 20.8 thousand square meters of gaming space, a 1,500-room hotel, retail shops, and event halls.
