A Minnesota man who ran a gambling scheme on TikTok was arrested last week for illegal gambling, Casino.org reported.
The 40-year-old blogger had a niche audience of casino fans who paid him to play slots on their behalf. He would livestream his visits to local casinos and follow his subscribers’ instructions on which slots and stakes to choose.
More than 100 people participated in this online gambling ring, sending over $65,000 to the blogger between October and December of 2022.
To join the scheme, subscribers had to pay $5.99 for a monthly subscription to the blogger’s channel. This gave them access to his live streams and the chance to influence his slot choices. They could also renew their subscription for the same amount.
The blogger’s luck ran out when someone tipped off the Minnesota Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division. Apparently, he couldn’t keep up with all the requests from his followers, even after taking their money. The authorities are now investigating the case.
Now he faces up to 3 years in jail and a hefty fine if convicted of illegal gambling.
