Sin City Lives Up to Its Name: Las Vegas Ranked as ‘Most Sinful City in America’

What are the most sinful cities in the USA? WalletHub, an online publication that specializes in personal finance, has the answer. The website has released its annual study that ranks American cities based on various factors related to sin.

The study ranked 182 American cities based on how sinful they are, using five key factors: “anger and hatred,” “jealousy,” “excesses and vices,” “greed,” and “lust.” 

Each city got a separate score for each factor, and an overall “Vice Index” from 0 to 100.

The results are not shocking: Las Vegas, the notorious sin city of the USA, has once again claimed the 1st place. This is the 7th consecutive year that Las Vegas has topped the list since the study began in 2016.

In 2023, Las Vegas scored 63.03 points on the Vice Index, leaving the 2nd-place city, Houston, far behind with 57.21 points. Las Vegas also ranked 1st in the category of “greed,” reflecting its reputation as a gambling hotspot. Houston, on the other hand, dominated the category of “lust,” thanks to its plethora of adult entertainment venues. Philadelphia, which came in 3rd overall, was also a runner-up in both “anger and hatred” and “jealousy”.
