The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), which oversees the world’s leading international darts tournaments, continues to view betting companies as its key commercial partners and has no plans to change this approach. CEO Matt Porter said this in an interview on the SportsPro Podcast.
Porter noted that operators from the betting sector provide a significant share of the organisation’s sponsorship revenue, and that interest in cooperation remains strong. According to him, companies are “queueing up” to take part in PDC projects.
He confirmed that Paddy Power has extended its title sponsorship of the World Darts Championship through 2031, and listed additional partners including BetMGM, Betfred, Boylesports, Ladbrokes, BetVictor, Mr Vegas and StarGames.
Porter added that the expansion of the sponsorship pool has been driven by the sport’s rising popularity, the emergence of high-profile athletes — including reigning world champion Luke Littler — and strong broadcast quality. He said growing interest in recent seasons has allowed the PDC to attract partners from outside the betting industry, naming Fosters and Uber Eats among the newest sponsors.
Porter also said traditional advertising space at venues is limited, prompting the PDC to develop additional partnership formats, including digital activations.
Touching on regulatory changes in other sports, Porter noted that English Premier League clubs will remove betting logos from the front of their shirts starting next season.
Against this backdrop, he stressed that the PDC does not intend to scale back its partnerships with betting operators and has no plans to reduce their presence at events, calling such a move “counterproductive” for both the organisation and its partners.
