The Mega Millions lottery has reached a new milestone after no one won the Friday draw.
The jackpot has soared to a staggering $1.55 billion, the highest amount in the lottery’s history since it started in 2002.
The last time someone hit the jackpot was in April, when a lucky player from Syracuse took home $20 million. The jackpot has been rolling over since then.
Mega Millions has invited lottery fans to join the next draw on its social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The chance to win the historic prize is on Tuesday at 11:00 PM Eastern Time.
The world record for the largest lottery prize still belongs to another US lottery — Powerball. In November 2022, a winner claimed $2.04 billion.
