ESIC and IOC

The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) have announced a groundbreaking collaboration. Their shared mission? To tackle corruption, match-fixing, and other fraudulent activities within the esports realm.

The IOC’s Olympic Movement Unit for the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions (OM Unit PMC) will work closely with ESIC in several key areas:

  • Information and idea exchange
  • Developing and implementing strategies, initiatives, and programs

As part of this historic partnership, ESIC will assume the role of a specialized advisory body to the IOC concerning all matters related to esports.

Friedrich Martens, Head of the OM Unit PMC, emphasized the IOC’s dedication to expanding esports competitions while ensuring they remain untainted by match-fixing or related violations. Martens succinctly summarized the collaboration: “Therefore, we are very happy about this letter of collaboration formalizing the long-standing communication between ESIC and the OM Unit PMC”.

Stephen Hanna, CEO of ESIC, echoed the sentiment, calling the partnership’s commencement “a significant milestone for the global esports industry”.
