The Telegraph reports that Chelsea FC has scrapped the idea of bringing in the cryptocurrency bookie Stake.com as the team’s title sponsor.

It’s not clear what exactly made them change their mind, but fans of the Blues and groups against gambling in soccer (including the Big Step) are definitely happy.

Just recently, Gambling Park reported that amid rumors of a possible deal with Stake.com, the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust even sent a letter to the club asking them to ditch the contract with the bookie.

The question of Chelsea’s future main sponsor is still up in the air. Along with Stake.com, companies Paramount and Oman Air were also in the running for the title partnership with the club, but neither deal worked out. At the same time, it’s safe to say that the London club is very unlikely to team up with a sponsor from the gambling sector.

For reference: in April of this year, Premier League clubs agreed to voluntarily stop showing gambling company logos on the front of their jerseys. This rule will kick in after the end of the 2025/2026 season.
