Samuel Eto’o, the former Barcelona striker and the current president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, has signed a two-year deal to become the new ambassador for the betting company 1xBet.

“Big thanks to 1xBet Cameroon for trusting me on this journey. With you, we bring more smiles and good vibes to everyone, everywhere”, the football legend tweeted.

But Eto’o’s new role didn’t make everyone happy. Some people on Twitter, including his fans, gave him a hard time for this deal. They posted comments like “Why are you promoting scammers?” and “It’s a shame to see a role model for Cameroonian youth supporting this”.

However, the deal is done, and all haters have to deal with it.

This is a huge win for 1xBet, as it will boost its visibility on the African continent with such a reputable and recognizable ambassador.

For reference: Samuel Eto’o’s career peaked during his time with Barcelona (2004–2009). He played 587 matches and scored 293 goals throughout his career.
