Canelo Backs Usyk: Mexican Boxer Bets $500,000 on Ukrainian Champion via 1Win

Mexican boxing star Saul “Canelo” Alvarez has publicly shown his support for Oleksandr Usyk ahead of the Ukrainian’s upcoming fight against Briton Daniel Dubois. On social media, Alvarez shared a screenshot of his $500,000 bet placed through the bookmaker 1Win — all in favor of Usyk.

The current odds on Usyk’s win stand at 1.26. If the undefeated Ukrainian prevails, Canelo stands to earn a $130,000 profit, with a total payout of $630,000.

“Over the last five years, Usyk has beaten the best,” Canelo wrote. “He’s got tremendous stamina, great technique, and he’s incredibly smart in the ring. When I see that kind of focus in a fighter, I bet on him. That’s why I put my money on Usyk. Alexander, be yourself!”

The Usyk vs. Dubois bout is scheduled for July 19 at Wembley Stadium in London and will determine the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. The two have met in the ring before, with Usyk securing the win in their previous encounter.

As a side note, Alvarez recently became a brand ambassador for 1Win — the same bookmaker where he placed this high-stakes wager.
