Lazio Terminates Sponsorship Deal With Polymarket After Italy Block

Italian football club Lazio has announced on its official website that it has terminated its sponsorship agreement with prediction market platform Polymarket ahead of schedule.

The deal was ended by mutual agreement between the two parties.

However, Polymarket will pay Lazio the full amount stipulated in the contract for the 2026/27 season. As a result, the club will receive the revenue for the entire season despite the early termination of the partnership.

Lazio has not disclosed the exact amount it will receive from Polymarket. Earlier, Italian media reported that the two-year agreement was worth around €19 million for the club. This would mean Polymarket’s payment for the 2026/27 season could amount to approximately €9.5 million.

The termination was caused by changes in Italy’s regulatory environment for Polymarket. In July, Italy’s gambling regulator ADM ordered the platform’s website to be blocked in the country, stating that it was operating without the required authorization. Polymarket attempted to challenge the restrictions, but in early August a court refused to temporarily suspend the block.

Lazio said the two sides maintained good relations and would continue discussions. The club and Polymarket also did not rule out a new partnership in the future if Italian regulations allow such cooperation again.
