Mississippi has raked in $2 billion in gross lottery ticket sales, reaching this goal 4 years after lotteries became legal in the state.

Mississippi Lottery Corporation President Jeff Hewitt said the past four years have been a “flurry of excitement and growth” for the lottery corporation. “Reaching the $2 billion mark is an incredible accomplishment, and we are excited about continuing our growth and success into Year 5,” he added.

According to the lottery corporation’s report for 2023, the most popular games among Mississippians are the $5 instant-win scratchers, followed by the $20 and $10 ones:

  • $5 scratchers: 18.9%
  • $20 scratchers: 18.3%
  • $10 scratchers: 13.4%
  • Powerball: 10.5%
  • Mega Millions: 8.8%

Some of the lottery sales money goes to the Highway Fund, which got $377 million in the last four years, and the Education Enhancement Fund (EEF), which got $142 million.
