Brazilian Football Star Gabigol Teams Up with Stake.com

Brazilian football star Gabriel Barbosa Almeida, better known as Gabigol, has become an ambassador for online casino operator Stake.com. The partnership will help promote the brand’s gambling offerings, iGaming Brazil reports.

Gabigol plays for Flamengo, a Rio de Janeiro-based club. He has also played for renowned teams like Inter and Benfica.

In 2019, he won the Golden Ball award, which is given to the best football player in Brazil by the country’s top sports magazine, Placar.

Barbosa was in hot water in 2021 when he was busted at an illegal casino in São Paulo. He was nabbed near a gambling table during a police raid. Luckily, he dodged jail time and paid a fine instead.

Stake.com was launched in 2017 by Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani. The company is registered in Curacao and operates an online casino. Other celebrities who promote the brand include Argentine football legend Sergio Aguero, New Zealand MMA fighter Israel Adesanya, and Canadian rapper Drake.
