Bangladesh Police Bust 7 1xBet Agents for Running Illegal Gambling Ring

Seven people have been arrested in Bangladesh for running an illegal gambling ring through 1xBet, a banned bookmaker platform. New Age Bangladesh reported that the suspects were working as agents for 1xBet in Bangladesh.
The agents were in charge of recruiting new customers for the bookmaker and acting as middlemen for financial transactions between the players and the company (they helped the players deposit and withdraw money from their gaming accounts).
The police said that many illegal gambling sites, including 1xBet, are operated from Russia in Bangladesh. They appoint local managers who hire agents to build and maintain the customer base. The agents earn a commission from the players’ bets.
The investigation revealed that the criminal group was able to transfer up to 2.5 million euros out of the country every month. The money was then laundered abroad.
Gambling and gambling advertisements are prohibited in Bangladesh. Earlier this year, a popular Bangladeshi blogger was arrested for promoting 1xBet on his YouTube channel.
