The English Premier League side, Sheffield United Football Club, has refused to partner with sponsors from the gambling industry. According to reports from The Star, the club has received numerous attractive sponsorship offers from undisclosed bookmakers. However, in all cases, the newly promoted EPL side has rejected them.

The club hierarchy believes that collaborating with gambling companies might have a negative impact on the club’s fans, particularly the younger generation, who are the most vulnerable to developing a gambling addiction.

This concern stems from their understanding of the risks involved. It is worth noting that the club’s owner hails from Saudi Arabia, where gambling is prohibited.

In contrast, some other teams in the EPL are actively seeking sponsorship support from gambling companies. For example, Aston Villa has recently signed a contract with the Asian bookmaker Stake.com, while Chelsea Football Club is currently in negotiations with a cryptocurrency casino.

Two months ago, the EPL clubs collectively decided to voluntarily refrain from featuring gambling companies on the front of their jerseys. This ban came into effect at the conclusion of the 2025/2026 English Premier League season, demonstrating their commitment to minimizing the influence of gambling in football.
