Fanatics, the sports merchandise giant, will open a sportsbook in partnership with NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets in August.
The betting venue will be located near the team’s home arena, Nationwide Arena, in downtown Columbus.
Ari Borod, the chief business officer of Fanatics Betting and Gaming, said:
“We’re excited to partner with the Blue Jackets to bring a world-class retail experience to the Arena District in downtown Columbus”.
Fanatics already has a similar deal in place. They have an offline sportsbook at the stadium of NFL’s Washington Commanders in Maryland, which opened in late May.
Fanatics is best known for making and selling licensed sports apparel, sports memorabilia, NFTs, trading cards, and other sports-related goods. The company had long been eyeing the gambling market, and in January 2023, they got their first sports betting license in the state of Maryland.
In late June, Fanatics bought the American business of Australian betting company PointsBet for $225 million.
