The bookmaker 6686.com, which recently partnered with the English soccer team Wolverhampton, has been caught red-handed streaming major European soccer league games without permission.
The new Asian betting partner of ‘the Wolves’ doesn’t have the rights to broadcast Premier League and other top European league games.
But if you go to their Chinese website using a VPN with Hong Kong as your location, you’ll find a ton of live streams. They include games from the EPL, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, La Liga, and more, even down to Ukraine’s First League.
6686.com claims to be a global brand and even has a British website (www.6686sports.co.uk). But with this VPN trick, the British site sends you to the Chinese site, where you can watch the illegal content. It looks like these streams are stolen from licensed services: Setanta, Telemundo, Arena Sport, and others.
It’s worth noting that besides their deal with Wolverhampton, 6686.com is also a betting partner of AS Monaco, Lazio, and Wolfsburg.
The United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC) hasn’t commented much on this situation yet, but they’ve stressed that gambling operators need to keep their promises. They’ve also said that if there are any copyright violations, they’ll inform the authorities in the relevant countries.
