The White House plans to hold a meeting next week with representatives of the prediction market industry and cryptocurrency companies. The event is scheduled for August 19, Politico reported, citing three people familiar with the preparations.
The final list of participants has not yet been determined. Executives from traditional financial firms may also join representatives of prediction market platforms and the crypto industry.
It is not yet known whether U.S. President Donald Trump will attend.
The meeting comes amid the rapid growth of prediction markets in the United States. The Trump administration has taken a favorable stance toward the industry, even as it remains at the center of disputes over the scope of federal regulation, particularly when it comes to contracts tied to the outcomes of sporting events.
The following day, August 20, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) will convene its Innovation Advisory Committee in Washington. The federal regulator oversees prediction markets alongside other derivatives markets.
The committee includes Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan, Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour, DraftKings CEO Jason Robins and FanDuel President Christian Genetski. Cryptocurrency companies and traditional financial firms are also represented on the committee.
