Betting exchange and online gambling operator Betfair will shut down its affiliate marketing program in the United Kingdom and Ireland, according to a report by Focus Gaming News.
The company confirmed it will end all affiliate partnerships in both countries effective July 1, 2025.
Betfair’s decision to exit affiliate operations in its home markets is part of a broader strategy to cut operational costs amid tightening regulatory oversight.
The move also reflects rising concern over hefty fines issued by the UK Gambling Commission. Operators have increasingly been penalized for compliance breaches, and affiliate partners have been flagged as a potential source of risk in these cases.
At the same time, Flutter Entertainment — Betfair’s parent company — is ramping up investment in regulatory compliance and responsible gaming initiatives. Company leadership says it has allocated over €100 million annually toward these efforts since 2022.
