Liverpool and Netherlands defender Virgil van Dijk has once again become the victim of a fake advertisement for an unlicensed online casino.
According to Casino Scout, multiple videos have surfaced on social media platforms, showcasing fraudsters using old interviews of van Dijk and employing AI-generated voiceovers to manipulate his image.
In one of these fraudulent videos, van Dijk is falsely portrayed as endorsing a gambling app called Honey Flow, claiming he invests 30% of his earnings in it.
The ad also falsely claims that the app has brought joy to hundreds of thousands of Dutch residents, offering bonuses and promising availability for download until the end of the month.
Van Dijk is not the only high-profile footballer targeted by this type of scam. Manchester City and Belgium midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has also been featured in similar fraudulent ads.
